Overview

Baltistan Division of Gilgit-Baltistan Pakistan is located at an average height of approximately 3350 m from the sea level. It is home to the mountains of the stunning Karakoram range and is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, including snow-capped mountain peaks, crystal-clear lakes, and lush green valleys. The Baltistan Valley is surrounded by some of the world's highest peaks, such as K2, the second-highest mountain on Earth. As autumn descends upon Baltistan, the landscape undergoes a stunning transformation. The mountainsides blaze with hues of yellow, orange, and red. Apricot, mulberry, and walnut trees shed their leaves, blanketing the ground in a golden carpet. Chilly mornings give signs of the winter coming. These days are perfect for hikes among the breathtaking scenery before winter paints the valleys white. People of Baltistan speak the Balti Language which is a branch of Sino Tibetan Burman. Baltistan has a strong grip over the literature and Linguistics of this Language. Shina and some other languages are also spoken in some places. This Place is rich in cultural heritage, with influences from Tibetan, Balti, and other indigenous cultures. Visitors can explore ancient fortresses, Buddhist stupas, and traditional Balti villages to experience the region's unique cultural identity. Balti food is as delicious as its scenery. Due to its high altitude, meals in Baltistan are built around warming you up. You may taste hearty stews and curries packed with goat, or lamb and flavoured with spices like cumin and turmeric. Mamtu, a kind of dumpling, are a local favourite, often filled with meat and veggies. The Balti Namkeen chai is a thick salt tea with butter and is a favourite of Balti People all around Baltistan. In conclusion, Baltistan offers a stunning blend of adventure, culture, and delicious food. Nestled amidst breathtaking mountains, it transforms into a dazzling tapestry of golden colours during the Autumn.
